Georgia Jane Young

Georgia Jane Young, Mais, daughter of Fern Ann Hutsler, Young and James Herbert Young, born Feb 2nd, 1925, Sedalia, Mo., 502 North Quincy.
Dr. Bess delivered me. I was breech, the cord was around my neck, and the Dr. thought they would loose me. In their attempt to revive me, the Dr. accidentally dropped me into a pan without water in it, and burned the right side of my bottom and left heel. I was severely burnt and had to carry me on a pillow two months. I still have the scars.
When I was born, Daddy was working for Deickman's, a refinishing Co., known for its' work nation wide. He and his father, grandpa Dixie, and brother Harry were often called on to do work for McLaughlin Bros. Furniture, Funeral Home and the other "Well To Do" in Sedalia. Even in his later days, lots of people would call on him to do work for them. No one can do it like you, Herb.
In the l930's, during the Great Depression, times were very hard. We had to move to Cole Camp, Mo. to live with Grandma Hutsler (Hettie Jane), on her family farm. Grandpa had died in 1915, when mother was nine years old. Grandpa died after getting his arm pulled up to arm pit in a corn shredder. He and a friend had just bought the shredder several months before and was helping a neighbor shell his corn. He died from loss of blood. He left Grandma with 4 young children, 3 girls, l boy. .

Georgia married John J MAIS Jr. (John J MAIS Jr. was born on 13 May 1923 and died on 1 Oct 1973.)
