Swenborg NELSON
![]()
Swenborg Nelson Swenson was the eldest daughter or only child of an aristocratic family. At any rate, she had no bothers. At the death of her parents, since their property was entailed, her eldest son, William G. Swenson, inherited some money, but since he was an American citizen, he could not inherit the property. One family legend states that Swenborg was a noble woman by birth. At any rate, she was able to finance her family's migration to the United States in 1877. They did not travel steerage, and she was able to provide financial resources to help acquire property. She was known as an intelligent business woman, but was extremely frugal. (Some of her granddaughters thought of her as mean and miserly!) Over and above all of her children, Nels Swenson was her favorite, according to all sources.
Name in Sweden may have been Nillson or Nillsson rather than Nelson. ![]()
